Mesquite Electricity

by Donny on January 11, 2011

Dallas area suburbs are some of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and Mesquite, Texas is no exception.

The city’s population is about 136,750.

It’s known as the “Rodeo Capital of Texas,” and is also home to a repair center for Microsoft and a distribution center for UPS as well as some of the world’s biggest movie theaters including the AMC 30 Mesquite which has 30 screens and can seat up to about 6,092 people.

The city was originally founded by a Texas and Pacific Railway engineer in 1873.

The railroad ran from Dallas to Shreveport, as other cities including Mesquite began to grow around the railway.

Farmers in the Mesquite area grew cotton, hay, corn sugar and others and used the railway as a means of transportation for their raw goods.

The city’s population increased from just less than 1,700 people in 1950 to about 55,131 in 1970.

With the city experiencing the tremendous growth that it is, it’s nice for local residents to know they have a right to choose the cheapest electricity rate and company available to them.

In 2001, Texas became a deregulated state, and this gives the opportunity for Texas to shop and compare the different electric rates in their area.
