Texas Size Decrease

Is there finally light at the end of the tunnel?

Some would argue that when it comes to electricity rates, the answer is ‘yes.’

Lately, Texas fuel prices have dropped to the lowest amounts they’ve been in several years, and some think that’s here to stay.

“Some customers will save more than 50 dollars a month by choosing a lower price with either a new or their current provider,” Donna Nelson, Commissioner of the Public Utility Commission, said.

Natural gas is the largest source of fuel used to generate power in Texas, and prices are the lowest they’ve been since 2002 despite reaching historic highs in 2008.

The low gas prices will also allow energy providers to pass the savings onto new customers, thus opening the door for anyone shopping for a good energy plan. As of recently, every competitive are of Texas contains a residential price offer of less than a dime per kilowatt hour.

Some energy companies now offer low electric prices which also include month-to-month plans as well as long-term plans.

In fact, some residents of the Dallas area paid as little as 8.9 cents per kilowatt hour.

The true test remains to be seen though. Seeing as the summer months are the most brutal of the year in the south, Texans tend to use more electricity at higher rates.

However, now is a great time to switch if you’re in the market for a new energy provider. By going to our homepage, you can shop, compare and choose the electric rates that work best for you. For further questions, comments or concerns, call 1-800-971-4020.
