Reliant Energy is teaming up Comcast in Houston. The two companies have agreed to supply agreement where Reliant will provide nearly 8MW of peak power to more than 10,000 meter locations in the Houston location.

The hope is by working together, the two companies will make the moving process easier for residential customers. It will help moving customers connect their electricity as well as their phones, TV and internet.

According to Darren Rish, vice president of Finance and Accounting for Comcast Houston, the selling point was the rates.

“Competitive pricing was a very important factor in our decision,” Rish said. “Reliant offered a great price plus enhanced billing features that give us insight we need to be effectively manage our energy use.”

David Brast, senior vice president, Business Segments, said it’s a win-win for both companies.

“Providing Comcast with the information it needs to analyze and monitor its network is just one of many ways we add value beyond electricity for our large commercial clients,” Brast said. “We are pleased to have been chosen by Comcast to serve its electricity needs.”

Reliant is one of the largest energy providers in the state of Texas and also services states such as Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Comcast is one of the world’s leaders in communication, media and entertainment and one of the nation’s leaders in high-speed internet and phone providers.
