Electricity in Sugar Land

by Donny on December 16, 2010

Sugar Land is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas.

The population jumped from 24,520 in 1990 to 63,328 in 2000, that’s a 158 percent increase.

It was established in the mid 1800s and is located about 20 miles southwest of Houston.

The city got its name because it was once known for its sugar mill and refinery that was owned by Imperial Pure Cane Sugar, and citizens thought it had a good sound to it, and so did the band Sugarland, who got its name from the town.

With Houston and Galveston nearby, citizens of Sugar Land have plenty to do for entertainment.

On more than one occasion, Sugar Land has been named one of the “Safest Cities” in the United States, a stat based on FBI analysis.

Citizens of Sugar Land also have something else to be proud of; the freedom and right to choose their own electricity provider and rate.

If you live in the Sugar Land area, or another deregulated area, you have the right to choose your own provider, and there’s no need to jump from one energy provider’s website to another. Instead, you can shop, compare and choose the cheapest electricity rates for your home or business right here.
