Last November we told you about the 2012 Dallas Film Festival sponsored by TXU, and now the third-annual event is officially upon us. You can watch videos entered into the contest and vote for your favorite now through March 23.
Just click here to see films by high school and college students’ three-to-five minute videos about the future of energy. Contestants are from Dallas, Houston, Austin and many other Texas cities. Winning prizes include cash, video equipment and a chance to walk down the red carpet.
The contest consists of a wide variety of films including comedies, horror/sci-fi, animation, drama and music videos. Voters are asked to base their scores on creativity, originality and the most straight forward thinking when it comes to energy solutions.
Also, online voters will have a chance to win tickets to attend a film screening for their favorite of the films at the film festival.
The top five high school and college submissions will be announced on by April 12 as the semi-finalists, and will be judged by contest officials. The finalist will walk the red carpet on April 21 at the Dallas Film Society Honors and Awards Presentation.
The first-place schools will win $7,500 while other prizes include $5,000 and $2,500 as well as free video and audio editing software worth about $400.
