Presidential candidates play the blame game over gas prices

by Donny on February 24, 2012

Gas prices continue to rise, giving extra fuel to republicans in blaming President Barack Obama. In just the past week, the costs of gas have reached an average of $3.61 per gallon and it has been said we can expect to pay close to four dollars per gallon in the near future. If that’s the case, it won’t help the president in getting re-elected.

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said he plans to deliver gas at $2.50 if he’s elected to the White House. Obama responded by saying, “It’s the easiest thing in the world (to) make phony election-year promises about lower gas prices.”

Perhaps it takes one to know one. Politicians will say absolutely anything in order to get elected into office, and that’s what both Obama and Gingrich as well as other candidates are doing.

Regardless, gas prices are on the rise and energy rates could go up as well.
