Green Mountain teams up with NFL for Super Bowl

The big dance is only a few days away and America’s eyes will be glued to Super Bowl XLVI at Oil Lucas Stadium in Indianapolis. Will the New England Patriots get revenge from four years ago or will the New York Giants take a 2-0 lead in the Super Bowl against their east-coast foes?

The Patriots and Giants are the only ones preparing for the big game. Thousands and thousands of people are working hard behind the scenes to make things a success. Among the many organizations the NFL Environmental Program is working in efforts to lighten the impact of the game which is expected to use up to about 15,000 megawatt-hours of electricity. According to Energy Information Administration, that’s enough to provide energy to at least 1,300 homes in the United States.

So what is the NFL Environmental Program doing to save power? It plans to use 100 percent renewable energy thanks to Texas-based energy company, Green Mountain Energy.

As for ways to save money on residential electricity during the Super Bowl, make sure you take the usual steps in doing so.
