What to beware of when signing up for electricity

by Donny on December 8, 2010

Although it’s nice being able to choose an energy provider, it’s not always wise to choose what appears to be the cheapest electricity rate.

That’s what some providers will use as a hook. They’ll apply hidden charges, and after your first month or two, you may end up paying a lot more money than what you remember singing up for in the first place.

Cheapest Electricity doesn’t hide any of that. Instead of visiting different websites of the different providers, you can shop, compare and choose the best rate and company right here.

All you have to do is type your zip code into our compare box to see what the energy suppliers are offering.

When comparing rates on our chart, here are just a few things to ask yourself:

  • Am I looking for a six-month, 12-month, 24-month or 36-month plan? This is important because some companies will offer more for longer term, but that’s not always the case. Plus you don’t want to commit longer than necessary.
  • Should I sign up for a variable rate or a fixed rate? Typically, it’s best to go with a fixed rate because that way, your bills will be more consistent.
  • Will they spring sudden hidden fees? That’s a valid question. What you see now is what you get right now, but the future is uncertain, but the odds are in your favor more if you sign up through us.

If you have any further questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us anytime at 1-800-971-4020, and one of our expert energy consultants will be happy to give you a hand.
