Electricity in Decatur, Illinois

by Donny on March 29, 2011

Decatur, Illinois is the sixth-largest city in the state with a population of about 76,122 and is often called “the Soybean Capital of the World.”

It’s the largest city in Macon County along the Sangamon River and Lake Decatur.

The city is located about 40 miles east of Springfield and 50 miles southwest of Champaign.

The town’s most all-time famous resident is Abraham Lincoln who moved to Decatur with his family in 1830.

Some might say Decatur was where it all began for the 16th President of the United States who led this country during tough times.

Lincoln helped lay the foundation of this country which eventually led us to have freedom of choice, including the right to choose the cheapest electricity rates and providers for our commercial businesses.

Illinois is one of several states to have become deregulated which means residents in Decatur and other deregulated towns have the right and the ability to choose the best electricity prices available in the area.
